Before Bubba Pollard strapped into his Super Late Model at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN) for the All American 400, he made a quick trip to victory lane by winning the Big Machine Vodka Pro Late Model 100 Sunday.
Pollard took the lead from defending Pro Late Model track champion Michael House on lap 62 of the 100-lap event and led the rest of the way to take the $6,500 winner’s payday.
Pollard admitted it was a bit of a learning curve running against the local shoes who compete for the track’s Pro Late Model track championship, but the Georgia driver worked his way to the front after starting third.
“That was a fun race,” said Pollard in victory lane. “I didn’t really know how the cautions were going to play out. We were riding there at the beginning, letting the tires come up. I haven’t raced against a lot of these guys in the Pro division, see how they restart and things like that.
“When we got going, I didn’t feel like I was in the position I needed to be in. I felt like I needed to get to the front a little quicker, so that’s what I did.”
